Three of our students have recently represented Cumbria at Cross Country at Stewart Park in Middlesborough in the Northern Inter-Counties event.

This is an amazing achievement and an outstanding level of athletic ability is required to operate at County level against the finest athletes from Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham and North Yorkshire.

The students were:

Loe R – Year 7 – Minor girls
Annabel S – Year 12 -Senior girls
Aaron D – Year 13 – Senior boys

Team perspective:
All three athletes ran well and contributed to some amazing individual and team performances, Cumbia winning the team event for minor girls as well as senior girls. Senior boys finishing in 3rd place.

Individual perspective:
Aaron was running in his first cross county series this year and has done remarkably well to represent his school, district and now county level.

Loe is a Year 7 and is a fantastic athletic prospect and won her district title as well as now representing the county superbly well!

Annabel who is a Year 12 actually finished 9th place in the inter-counties, meaning she is in the top 10 ranked runners in the north of England at U18s level.

Well done to all athletes who have shown fantastic dedication to sports, fitness and should be proud of themselves as we are as a school, district and county.

All three students have since found out that they have been selected to run at national events in March – good luck everyone!
