Welcome to our End of Term Newsletter. Here you will find a round up of the terms news, details of upcoming events and messages from our Headteacher and Chair of Governors, as well as important dates for the next term.
Message from Headteacher:
Dear Parents and Carers
We are now in Holy Week and that seems an appropriate time to reflect on everything that has happened over the last term. Christmas feels like a distant memory and time appears to have passed so quickly.
School continues to be a rather surreal place at times. Everyone in masks, year group bubbles, staggered breaks and so on; and yet at the same time, all of that has become very normal, and it does feel like the learning community we have always known.
I am continually impressed by the attitude of our students to their studies and their excellent behaviour. At this time of year, many staff are writing references for our Year 11 and 13 students. Secondary education is the gateway to their future and I am delighted so many embrace all that we have to offer here at St Benedict’s.
As we now move into the summer term, we will have end of year exams for all students and this will be a chance for all of them to show us what they can do. This time will of course bring sadness too, as we say goodbye to Year 11 and 13. However, we will also have the excitement of welcoming a new cohort of Year 7.
Easter will be a time of rest and recuperation (and revision for our older students). I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed, when we return in April.
Have a very Happy and Holy Easter
Emma Jackson
Head Teacher
Message from Chair of Governors:
Usually at this time of year I wish students good luck in their public examinations but unfortunately another disrupted academic year has put paid to that. In any case, I wish students good luck with their assessed grades. Teachers at St Benedict’s are doing their absolute best to ensure that all grades are fair and robust.
With all that is going on in the world it feels like Easter has crept up on us, but the timing is apt; Easter is a joyous time and we have so much to look forward to. We will eventually return to a normal school life and we will appreciate it all the more, as we have appreciated all the workers that have helped us get through these difficult times. This includes our own school staff who have shown great professionalism and flexibility in adapting to the current circumstances.
I wish you all a happy Easter with hope for the future.

Chair of Governors
Message from Sixth Form:
It has been fantastic to have our students back and their work ethic and commitment to their studies has been fantastic to see. The exam season for Year 13 is nearly upon us and students should be busily revising for their forthcoming mock examinations.
We are looking forward to the new term and will be working closely with our Year 12’s in terms of university applications and thinking ahead. We will also be recruiting for our new school council so it will be good to see lots of applications.
This is my last newsletter as your head of sixth form and I would like to wish you all the best. It’s been a privilege to be your head of sixth form. I hope that you all have a peaceful and restful Easter break.
