Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the end of the half term, I would like to thank you for all your support and understanding throughout this lock down period. We are very proud of the remote learning we have provided, but we are mindful that children learning from home is not easy for anyone.
We have attached our remote learning guide for parents to this letter. We hope you find it useful. It is also available on our website.
Wellbeing Wednesday was a welcome change to our usual learning. It was wonderful to see our students taking part in a variety of activities and so many smiling faces. Thank you for sending in your photos and journals, we really enjoyed looking at them.
As you are probably aware, the Government has announced that the return to school will not be until Monday, 8th March, at the earliest. We will know more at the start of next half term. Please be aware that it is unlikely that every student will return in every year group on Monday, 8th March. We await more information from the Government and we will of course keep you up to date.
For Year 11 and Year 13
Soon after half term, the Government will be publishing the results of their consultation on the awarding of grades this summer for GCSE, A level and other equivalent qualifications. As soon as this is published we will be in touch to let you all know what this means for us as a school and you as students. It is likely that when we return to school, we will conduct internal assessments to help support the teacher assessments that we will make, and to provide evidence for whatever the grading system will be. Please do not worry about this, simply keep working in all your subjects and recapping/revising the work you have done previously, so that you are as prepared as possible for whatever is put in place. We will shortly be sending some helpful hints for revision techniques. This revision is crucial even without the final exams, as your future studies and training will need to build on the work you have done towards your current qualifications.
Once again thank you for everything you do. We hope you have a peaceful and relaxing half term. School will re-open (remotely) on Monday, 22nd February.
God bless
Emma Jackson
