Dear Parents/Carers
You will be aware of the announcement from the Department for education about the phased re-opening of secondary schools. This is an ever-changing picture and we are working hard to ensure we have plans in place for both testing and remote learning.
As things stand, we have the following plans in place:
All staff and students will be offered a lateral flow test within the first two weeks of term. We will aim to give everyone two tests (3 days apart) however, this is presently dependant on receiving our full test allocation.
On Monday 4th January, we will send you the date and appointment time for your child’s first test. Please do not attend school until your allocated time slot. Please remember you can give consent for a test via edulink or on the day. We would appreciate it if you would accompany your child to the test. It is expected that children aged 12 years and older will administer their own test. Staff will be available to support. If your child is 11 years old (Year 7), then they must be accompanied by an adult. Test information from the government is included with this letter.
Please note if your child has tested positive for COVID19 in the last 90 days then they should not have a lateral flow test.
On Tuesday 5th January all staff will be offered a test in school.
On Wednesday 6th January, remote learning will commence for all year groups. All lessons will have a live element to them and pupils can access them via TEAMs. It is expected that all pupils will follow their normal timetable. Teachers will be fully aware of pupils who are present at each lesson.
Our hub provision for vulnerable pupils and children of key workers will begin on Wednesday 6th January. Booking for this provision is available via our website from Monday 4th January.
On Tuesday 12th January, School will open for Year 11 and 13. We are currently planning for Year 11 and 13 to have a second test on Monday 11th January, before their full return to school.
All other pupils will return to school on Monday 18th January.
External exams for the small number of pupils in Year 10 and Year 13 on 6th and 7th January will go ahead as planned. Pupils entered for these exams should attend for the exam.
Mock exams for Year 11 and Year 13 will proceed as planned commencing in the week beginning January 18th.
Free school meal vouchers, for those families entitled to them will be provided as they have been previously.
Please note that information may change, but we will endeavour to keep you up to date as up to date as possible.
