- Where did you grown up & go to school and college? I was born and lived in Whitehaven until I was 6 years old. My family and I then moved to Workington. I attended Southfield Secondary School in the 80’s and early 90’s. I then went on to Workington Sixth Form College where I studied English literature and Art. After that I attended Art College for a year before doing my arts degree at The Scottish College of textiles in Galashiels.
- Why did you decide to teach what you teach? I have always had a love for Art and Design from a very young age and would draw and design clothes all the time as a child. I just instinctively knew that I would do something creative when I was older. Before I got into teaching I lived down south for a while and worked as a designer for a company that designed and made lighting for the likes of BHS, House of Fraser and Laura Ashley. I also worked for a ladies clothes catalogue for a while and got to travel to a big fashion and textile show in Paris every year.
- Where was your first teaching job? My first ever teaching job was at St Benedict’s. I have been working here as an Art teacher since 2004!
- What is the best thing about teaching secondary school? The best thing about teaching in a Secondary school is that every day is different and never dull!
- How do you think the students will remember you & your class? I would like to think that students will remember me as a firm but fair and kind teacher and my class being a chilled out little sanctuary for them to express themselves.
- What is your favourite movie? My favourite movie is an 80’s classic called ‘Mannequin’. What can I say? I’m an 80’s child!
- What is your idea of fun? My idea of fun is spending time with my friends and family, listening to music and having a good craic.
- What is one of your hidden talents? Not sure if I have any hidden talents but I love to sing!
- What would the students be surprised to find out about you? That I love hip hop music, R&B and Grime.
- If you could have one superpower, what would it be? My superpower would be to fly really fast so I could get to other places super quick.

- Name three things you love about your job: The students, my fantastic work colleagues and the fact that I get to be creative every day.
- Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by? Don’t wish your life away, live for the moment and appreciate everything you have.
