Visual Impairment

We have an Senior Teaching Assistant, to work with visually impaired children in a bespoke capacity.

We have regular visits and input from the Specialist advisory teacher.

All staff are invited to training on visual impairments at least annually and currently termly.

Staff are invited to take part in online training for visual impairments.

Specialist equipment is provided and used when necessary (the one note brailler and embosser as examples).

Buddy training is provided to encourage students to help others with mobility and use of a walking cane.

Lessons are taught in the mainstream classes as well as individual braille lessons.

Exams are delivered in a bespoke manner following the end of year assessments.
