It was a first for most of our students this week, as they enjoying preparing, cooking and tasting mussels with Mr Boal!
The Year 10 classes were lucky enough to have this opportunity thanks to a donation for fresh mussels via the ‘Fish in School Hero’ programme.
They conducted a survey with Food Teachers across the country that showed ‘that over half of pupils had not eaten fish by the time they left school.’
Mr Boal cooked two different recipes with his Year 10 students, Moules Mariniere and then also Asian Mussels.
Mr Boal said:
“The pupils looked at how mussels were grown and harvested sustainably, all enjoyed cooking the mussels and most of them tried the mussels and they all liked them, they were more keen to eat them the second day!”
