This week we have been very proud to see two our of students accept their awards from the REACT Foundation.
Indy Warneford, and Aaron Eldon who are both currently studying at our Sixth Form, were presented via a virtual ceremony due to the normal event not being able to take place. Pete Woolaghan, Director of the Foundation, and Irene McMillan from REACT were on hand via technology to present the awards.
Indy was awarded one of the Post 16 prizes and is now studying Biology, Chemistry and Further Maths at our Sixth Form. She is hoping to go onto study Orthadontistry at university.
There are a number of REACT Foundation Post 16 prizes available for West Cumbrian students. To be in with a chance of winning the prize, the student had to complete a short application form.
The criterion is that the student must be intending to study STEM subjects in Sixth Form, such as Maths and a Science, or study towards a Level 3 STEM diploma in Engineering, Applied Science or Nuclear Engineering and Science in the next academic year.
Aaron Eldon was awarded one of the Year 13 Bursary Awards. Aaron is currently studying Physics, Chemistry and Maths at Sixth Form and is hoping to go to either Manchester or York university next year.
For the Year 13 Awards, applicants must be planning to study engineering, maths or a science at university and receipt of the prize will depend upon the student being successful at gaining a place on a course once A-Level results are released.
The application is an online form which includes a short personal statement. The Foundation trustees review the applications and select a winner.
We’d like to wish both students all the best for their future studies.
